VERBAVERBA

Verba is a painted station and a paper ticket, and we want everyone to be able to ride. This page says what the app supports today, and what it does not yet.

REDUCE MOTION

When Reduce Motion is on in your iPhone or iPad settings, the station goes still. Trains do not pass, birds do not fly in, lightning does not flash, and the clock and your streak medallion stop swinging. The room no longer moves as you tilt your phone, and the motion sensor is not used at all. The departures board changes with a fade instead of flipping, and tickets and sheets appear gently instead of springing in. The ticket still prints and tears, because that is how you answer.

CAPTIONS

Everything Selene says aloud is also printed on the ticket, word for word, so a conversation can be followed entirely with the sound off. Every question is written as well as spoken.

NOT BY COLOUR ALONE

A torn-off answer is stamped with a tick or a cross, a shape and not only a colour, and after a wrong answer the right one is stamped too. Your results are written out in full.

WHAT WE ARE STILL WORKING ON

The buttons and controls have labels for VoiceOver, but the app has not yet been fully tested with it, and the painted room is hard to describe well. The ticket's type is set at a fixed size to match the printed design, so it does not yet follow Larger Text. The station's light follows the real time of day rather than your phone's dark mode.
